So what i liked about your opening was that you could have succesfully won the d5 square for the rest of the game. Devin played knight to f6 to try to win it back. If you play bishop to g5 to exchange fot the knight, then you could have lodge a piece there permanently. That is he could attack it with his white bishop, but you could then take back with your pawn, and hr no longer has a piece of equal value to attack that square with. That is what is known as a passed piece, and my winning percentage goes way up when i have. It serves as a good staging point. Ideally you would like a knight on there.

Furthermore i see why i never made that move in the past, and i see now my concerns were unwarranted. I will explain in more detail when ot wont effect the outcome of the game.

I cant remember what i was using. It was just chessmaster 2000, and there were waitzkin tutorials that eere excellent. Specifically your pawn push to d4 look like a tactic he would use. That is he suggests attacking now rather than latter in a setup like that, and im really impressed by the resulting set up. I have been in a similar setup often and never considered doing that...now i know.

I have mostly been running through scenarios on a few of the moves. Should probably be doing that more, especially in the end game.
Is that Chessmaster 2000 you are using "Chessmaster XI" specifically? it looks like there were a few sequels.
