Probably. But Nxf2 still results in the same sequence I mentioned. I can't see a way for you to avoid that certain mate situation.

Move 67 (Bd4) was a very poor move. It gets you absolutely nowhere and surrenders initiative to Mike, giving him the chance to come back. If you had just done Qxc6 off the bat, he can still prep with Qg8, but you can follow up with Qb5+ Kb7 Rd7+ Kb7 (because Ka8 and Kc8 both lead to Qc6+ Kb7 Qb7#.) At this point, you go Qc6 (insert any black move here) Qb7#. His only real way to prevent this is to respond to the original Qxc6 with Rd8 Rxd8 Qxd8 Qxe4, which wins you a knight and the game due to lack of material.

Long story short: Don't waste moves when you have the advantage, and Bd4 was a massive waste of a move.

ahh, you saw that. it was my last ditch effort. you probably should have sacrificed a rook and played queen to f3 instead.Im pretty much cooked if you make that move.

That is pretty brutal, I had the advantage of having 100% take-home exams. Spent hours checking and double checking every (-) sign and factor of 2 to make sure it was right.

I think its more of a language issue than content. It should be possible to build a better notation. Something more rigorous, like that in algebra or logic.
