ahhhh! I can't believe I missed that John. I guess I was looking for material. I am going to study the position tomorrow, as once his king is flushed into the open, I could probably win material then.

Hmm. When I was watching the game, I saw Qf7 and thought it would be good, but I didn't see the mate. I was thinking about exposing the king.

I think Mike had a winning position early on in game #516. Instead of 7. Qg5, I think 7. Qf7 Kd6 8. Qd5 Ke7 9. Qe5# should lead to an easy end.. however...

Which is why I'm enjoying playing (and losing) to JohnG so much. I just can't seem to find even a slight hole in his armor. My usual tactics just don't work against him.

Also, if Justin didn't take advantage of what I showed him, you wouldn't have seen the glaring weakness there and not been able to compensate for it at a later point. This is all about learning, and you learn a lot more in defeat than in victory, usually. :)

No worries, it's a learning process. I was speaking to a friend of mine, and his advice for me to get better was to play hyper agressive, so I will be leaving myself exposed so i can find new lines.

You moved your rook into the e column. You should have brought your bishop up to attack rather than taking the pawn with your rook. You just didn't have enough attacking and removed your defense when you shifted the rook over to e4 from f4.

no worries, I think i have lost that exact same way before. it looked like i had a huge advantage at the beginning, but I suppose looks can be deceiving.

I have a confession to make! I asked Devin for help in our last game, just at the end there because I was curious to see if there was a way out!
